In 1996 the Mississippi Association of Chiefs of Police created $2,000.00 annual scholarships to be given to high school seniors and/or qualified applicants pursuing an under graduate degree that are sons, daughters, legal ward or adopted child of active members of the Chiefs Association. Later, due to many factors, the Executive Board voted to reduce the amount of the scholarships to $1,000.00 each. The Executive Board now votes annually on the amount of the scholarships based on the number of applications received and the recommendations of the scholarship committee.

Citizenship, leadership, and scholarship are the factors used determining these awards.

The minimum acceptable credentials include: high school class ranking and evidence of strong school and community leadership.
